Supply Chain News Guidelines

What to Submit

On-Topic: Anything that a good supply chain practitioner would find interesting. That includes more than safety stocks and service levels. If you had to reduce it to one sentence: anything that gratifies a curious supply chain minded person.

Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they are precisely having an impact on supply chains. Vague self-help, funny videos, or cute animal pictures. If it gets thousands of likes on LinkedIn, it's probably off-topic.

Please don't use SCN primarily for promotion. It's ok to post your own stuff occasionally (including if you work for a competitor of Lokad), but the primary use of the site should be for curiosity.

Don't do things to make titles stand out, like using uppercases or exclamation points, or saying how great an article it is. It's implicit in submitting something that you think it's important.

Submit the original source. If a post reports on something found on another site, submit the latter.

If the title includes the name of the site, take it out, because the site name will be displayed after the title.

If you submit a video, a picture, or a pdf, warn us by appending [video], [pic] or [pdf] to the title.

If the title contains a gratuitous number, crop it. Ex: translate "10 Ways to do X" to "How to do X" and "5 Amazing Ys" to "Ys". Otherwise, use the original title, unless it is misleading or clickbait; don't editorialize.

Be kind. Have a curious conversation. Don't sneer, including at the rest of the community. Don't post shallow dismissals, especially of other people's work.

When disagreeing, reply to the argument instead of calling names. "That is moronic; 1 + 1 is 2, not 3" can be shortened to "1 + 1 is 2, not 3"

Respond to the strongest plausible interpretation of what someone says, not a weaker one that's easier to criticize. Assume good faith.

Don't use uppercase for emphasis. If you want to emphasize a word or phrase, put *asterisks* around it and it will get italicized.

Don't complain that a post or comment is innappropriate. If a post or a comment is spam, off-topic or rude, flag it, using the "flag" link. If you flag, don't also comment that you did.
